Disposable cameras that connect to phone: the party camera lives on your guests' phones

Guests scan a QR code and shoot on a film-look camera, and every photo lands in one shared album with no developing and no chasing.

A film disposable camera means buying a stack of them, collecting them at the end of the night, paying to develop them and then scanning the prints. And none of it connects to a phone. The camera is a separate device, so the photos stay trapped on a roll until someone does the work.

So, honestly: a traditional disposable camera does not connect to a phone. sync.camera is the digital version that does. Instead of handing out plastic cameras, you put the disposable camera on each guest's own phone. They scan a QR code, shoot with a film-look camera, and every photo arrives in one shared album. That many-guests, one-album idea is what this page is about. If you are after the single-camera angle, see disposable camera that connects to phone.

How a disposable camera that connects to your phone works

The host starts by creating an event, naming it and picking an end time. Then the host picks the film look for the event camera: Normal, Vintage or B&W. Everyone shoots on the same film, and the look is locked once shooting starts.

Guests join by scanning the QR code or typing the eight-character invite. No account is required. There is nothing to buy, nothing to collect and nothing to send off for developing.

Guests then shoot on the in-app camera, and their photos go straight into the shared album. There is no cable and no pairing step, because the camera already lives on the phone that is taking the picture.

Finally, the host chooses when the album opens: live during the event, after it ends, or a set number of hours later. Every guest's shots end up in the same place, so nobody has to chase anybody for a photo.

Joining takes one scan

Guests can join from any modern phone browser using the invite link, so nobody has to install anything before the first photo. Installing the iOS or Android app is optional. It adds better camera controls and push notifications for new photos, which is nice for the guests who want them and irrelevant for the ones who do not.

The invite pass shows a large QR code along with a join code the host can share as a link. Put the QR code on a table card or a screen, or send the link in the group chat. With a crowd, that means one code reaches everyone, and every person who joins becomes a photographer for the same album.

Keep the surprise: choose when photos are revealed

Part of the charm of a disposable camera is waiting to see what you got. The host decides how much of that to keep, with three reveal modes. During means guests see photos live as they are taken. After the event means the gallery unlocks when the event ends. Additional delay unlocks it a set number of hours after the event ends.

Until the reveal, the album shows locked, blurred photos and a countdown, much like waiting for a film roll to come back. The difference is that the wait is a setting you choose rather than a trip to a developing lab. For more on the options, see reveal modes.

Who it is for

Couples planning a wedding

Put a QR code on each table so every guest becomes a disposable-camera photographer, then open the whole album the morning after by setting the reveal to when the event ends.

Birthday hosts

Hand the party a shared camera with a vintage film look, keep the photos locked until the next day with an additional-delay reveal, and skip the 'send me that' group chat.

Travel groups

Everyone on the trip shoots into one album, and the host narrows it to one traveler's shots with Filter by photographer.

Corporate event organizers

Split an offsite into moments such as keynote, workshops and dinner, each with its own QR code and reveal timing, so attendees switch stages without switching apps.

Frequently asked questions

Do disposable cameras really connect to your phone?

A film disposable camera is a separate device with no connection to a phone. sync.camera replaces it with a camera on each guest's own phone, so photos reach the shared album as they are taken.

Do guests need an account or the app?

No account is required. Guests join from a QR code or an eight-character invite in any modern phone browser. The iOS or Android app is optional and adds better camera controls and push notifications.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. The free tier supports up to 7 guest uploaders per event. SYNC PRO is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, that expands the guest and photo limits for a single event, so you only upgrade again when you create a larger event.

Can guests see the photos while the party is still going?

That is the host's choice. Reveal modes are During (live), After the event, or an additional delay of a set number of hours after the event ends.

Who can see the photos, and are they private?

sync.camera does not sell photos or data, shows no ads and does no cross-app tracking. Photos are encrypted in transit and stored in event-scoped buckets, with access enforced by per-event row-level security.
