A real disposable camera has to be bought, handed out, collected at the end of the night and then developed before anyone sees a single picture. Cameras get left on tables, and the photos you wanted from the quiet corner of the room never make it back to you.
A QR code for a disposable camera skips all of that. Guests scan it with their phone and start shooting in seconds, and every photo lands in one shared album for the host. It pairs well with a big, printable QR code and with QR code invites your guests can scan from a table card or a screen.
How the QR code for a disposable camera works
The host creates an event, names it and picks an end time. The event gets its own QR code and an eight-character invite, so there is nothing to print per guest and nothing to hand back at the end.
Guests scan the QR code, or type the invite if scanning is not an option, and join from any modern phone browser through the invite link. No account required. That is the whole onboarding: scan, join, shoot.
Everyone shoots into the same event album. Installing the iOS or Android app is optional. It adds better camera controls and push notifications for new photos, but guests who never install anything can still take part. See guest upload for more on how guests contribute.
You also decide when guests see the pictures. Pair the QR code with reveal modes to keep the surprise of a digital disposable camera, or follow the step-by-step guide on creating a QR code to upload photos.

Choose when guests see the photos
Reveal modes control when the album opens, and there are three options. During: guests see photos live as they are taken. After the event: the gallery unlocks when the event ends.
Additional delay: the gallery unlocks a set number of hours after the event ends, which keeps the disposable-camera surprise. Nobody peeks at the night's pictures until the time you chose.

Who it is for
Couples
Put the QR code on table cards so every guest becomes a wedding photographer, then open the album once the event ends. See the [wedding QR code guide](https://sync.camera/for/disposable-camera-wedding-qr-code).
Birthday hosts
Hold up the invite pass so friends scan in, then delay the reveal by some hours so nobody peeks until the next day.
Travel groups
Share one QR code with the group so everyone's shots end up in one album, with the photographer filter to find one person's pictures.
Event and team organizers
Split a day into moments such as ceremony, reception and after-party, each with its own QR code and reveal timing.

Frequently asked questions
Do guests need an account or the app to scan the QR code?
No account is required. Guests can join from any modern phone browser via the invite link. The iOS and Android apps are optional and add better camera controls and push notifications for new photos.
What if a guest can't scan the QR code?
Every event also has an eight-character invite, so guests can type that to join instead. They can also use the shared invite link, which works from any modern phone browser.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. It is free to start, with up to 7 guest uploaders per event. SYNC PRO is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, that expands the guest and photo limits for a single event, and you upgrade again only when you create a larger event.
Can I hide the photos until the party is over?
Yes, with reveal modes. You can show photos during the event, unlock the gallery after the event ends, or unlock it a set number of hours after the event ends to keep the surprise.
Can I use different QR codes for different parts of the day?
Yes. Moments split an event into stages, each with its own QR code and reveal timing, and guests switch between them without leaving the app. A ceremony, reception and after-party can each have their own.
Is my guests' data private?
We don't sell photos or data, and there are no ads or cross-app tracking. Photos are encrypted in transit and access is enforced per event. To be upfront, sync.camera does use product analytics and a crash reporter.
