You photograph birthday parties for families. While you focus on portraits and key moments, relatives take their own photos across different phones. You want a simple way to help the host collect those extra perspectives without chasing separate messages after the party.
What is hard right now
- I’m photographing the birthday child blowing out the candles, but relatives have the reactions I couldn’t capture.
- My client’s guests use different phones. They need a way to join without creating accounts or installing an app.
- My client wants the guest gallery to open after the party instead of revealing photos during the celebration.
- A relative took a photo my client loves, but finding that person’s shots in the album takes time.
Scenarios
Collect the reactions around the birthday cake
You frame the birthday child as the candles go out. Across the room, their aunt photographs the grandparents cheering. You can't be in both places.
Help your client, the host, create an event and name it. They pick an end time, then share the QR code or the eight-character invite with relatives. Guests join with no account required, and their perspectives land in the same album as the moment you were framing.
Bring iPhone and Android guests into the same event
The birthday child’s uncle uses Android. Their parents use iPhones. That used to mean separate messages and photos scattered across threads.
Guests open the invite link in any modern phone browser, so nobody needs to create an account. Installing the iOS or Android app is optional. It adds better camera controls and push notifications for new photos.
Give games, cake and dancing their own Moments
A birthday booking often moves from garden games to cake indoors and then dancing. Use Moments to split the event into those stages.
Each Moment gets its own QR code and reveal timing. Guests move between stages without switching apps, so the album stays organized as the party moves along.
Reveal the guest gallery after the celebration
Your client wants everyone to enjoy the party before browsing the gallery. There are three reveal options: During, where guests see photos live; After the event, which unlocks the gallery when the event ends; and Additional delay, which unlocks it a set number of hours later.
Once the gallery is revealed, use Filter by photographer to narrow the album to one contributor’s shots. When a relative took a photo your client loves, you can find the rest of their shots quickly. Then export your favorites.
