QR code for picture sharing: one scan puts every guest in your event

Guests join from a QR code or an eight-character invite, with no account required, so every photo ends up in one place instead of forty group chats.

The party was great. The photos are a mess. Some sit in one group chat, some in another, and a few are on a phone you will never see again. Then you spend the next week chasing guests for the good ones.

A QR code for picture sharing fixes that at the start. Guests scan one code, join your event and shoot straight into a shared album. No account to create and no photos to chase later. If you want more on the basics, see QR code photo sharing or QR code invites.

How a QR code for picture sharing works

The host creates an event, names it and picks an end time. sync.camera then generates an invite pass with a large QR code and a short join code.

Show the QR code on a phone screen or a printed card, or send the invite link by message. A big QR code is easy to scan from across a table or a room.

Guests scan it and join from any modern phone browser. No account is required, and installing the iOS or Android app is optional.

What guests see when they scan

The scan opens the event's join screen with the event cover and a Take your camera button. Guests tap it and start shooting.

Guests can also type the eight-character invite instead of scanning. That helps when a camera cannot read the code, for example on a glossy printed card under bad light.

The app is optional. Installing it adds better camera controls and push notifications for new photos, but the browser works without it. Read more about guest upload.

Where the photos go after the scan

Every guest's shots land in the same shared event album, so the host does not chase photos afterwards. See how QR code albums stay in one place.

The host chooses a reveal mode: During, After the event, or Additional delay. That decides when guests can see what everyone shot.

Photos are encrypted in transit and stored in event-scoped buckets, with access enforced by per-event row-level security. For more, see private event albums.

Who it is for

Wedding couples

Print the QR code on table cards so every guest at every table can scan it and add their candids to one album, no app install needed. See [wedding photo QR codes for guests](https://sync.camera/for/wedding-photo-qr-code-for-guests).

Birthday party hosts

Hold up the invite pass on a phone at the door so everyone joins in seconds, then use Moments to separate the pregame, cake and after-party. See [QR codes for party pictures](https://sync.camera/for/qr-code-for-party-pictures).

Corporate event organisers

Put one QR code on the screen or the lanyard card so attendees join without accounts or IT tickets, and filter the album by photographer afterwards. See [corporate events](https://sync.camera/for/corporate-event).

Travel groups

Share the invite link in the group chat so everyone on the trip adds their shots to one album that builds itself.

Frequently asked questions

Do guests need an account or the app to use the QR code?

No. Guests join from a QR code or an eight-character invite and no account is required. Any modern phone browser works through the invite link. The iOS or Android app is optional and adds better camera controls and push notifications.

Is a QR code for picture sharing free on sync.camera?

It is free to start. The free tier covers up to 7 guest uploaders per event. SYNC PRO is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, that expands the guest and photo limits for a single event, so you upgrade again only when you create a larger event.

Can I hide photos until the event is over?

Yes. Reveal modes offer During, After the event, or Additional delay. With After the event the gallery unlocks when the event ends. With Additional delay it unlocks a set number of hours later.

Can I use a different QR code for each part of an event?

Yes, through Moments. Split an event into stages such as ceremony, reception and after-party, each with its own QR code and reveal timing. Guests move between them without switching apps.

Who can see the photos guests upload?

Photos are encrypted in transit, stored in event-scoped buckets, and access is enforced by per-event row-level security. We don't sell your photos or your data, and there are no ads or cross-app tracking.

Can I find out who took which photo?

Yes. Filter by photographer narrows the album to one contributor's shots, which helps when you want to see everything a single guest captured.
